motherhood FAQs

Before the shoot, I will send you a questionnaire so I can gain an understanding of what you would like documented, and so you can let me know what you feel comfortable having photographed. I will have you come up with a few usual things you do throughout the day with your child (doing the dishes, putting on makeup, sitting in the garden, dancing to music, baking cookies, etc!) Whatever life looks like for you! I’m here to document it all!
-
My goal is to stay out of the way and document you and your child's intimate relationship. But don’t worry, I’m happy to chat and give you direction, but my main goal is to let your connection thrive!
The shoot will start at your house and will take place over the course of a few hours. I’m happy to tag along for errands or any activities you enjoy together like going to the library, park, or museum, swimming at the creek, or visiting grandma’s house, you name it! (The 4-hour session is often more appropriate for this kind of coverage.) The day will be fun and low-stress. I find it's helpful if you have nothing else planned too close to the end of our session so we have time to really get to know each other and take our time with the photos. We’ll listen to some music, laugh, and make some beautiful photographs along the way!
Please know that I am experienced in photographing children, so crying, dirty diapers, and meltdowns happen and are completely fine! My goal is for you and your child to feel comfortable enough to be your authentic, natural selves.

I am more than happy to give input on what to wear for your session. First and foremost, it should be something you feel the most like yourself in. I tend to steer away from anything too trendy, but if you love that flat-brimmed hat with all your heart, go for it! I would also strongly advise you to dress for the session we’re photographing. Meaning, if we’re taking photos in your sitting room, a floor-length dress might look a little strange. If we’re going to the park, maybe leave the leather trousers for another night.
Consider how the outfits will all look together. Contrasting patterns can be distracting, for example. But you also don’t want to all wear the same color either. Again, I am more than happy to give input!

Of course! Dads are awesome! I am more than happy to have him join the fun. I love focusing on the connection between mother and child because I find that moms are all too often the person behind the camera instead of in front of it, but dad can join us for however much of the session you want. Or he can just be there to help organize and watch kids. Just please let me know ahead of time so we are prepared going into the shoot.

For a 2-hour session, you can expect to receive 100+ photos.
For a 4-hour session, you can expect to receive 200+ images.
Images will be delivered digitally using an image-sharing platform and will be sent to your email address 3-5 weeks after our session. From there, you can make favorites lists and download high-resolution, fully edited images for printing and sharing as you wish.
Unlike other photographers, I strongly believe that these are your memories, and they are too precious to force you to choose just a few from the whole gallery to keep.

The first year of parenthood can be quite hectic, with a whole lot of new things to juggle and organize. To make things a little easier for you, I created the One Year Together sessions. This package includes two sessions - one when your child is a newborn, and the other when they turn one year old. Please let me know if you are interested in this package before booking your sessions so you receive a discounted rate. *Please note that this package cannot be added after contracts have been signed.

Absolutely! I love to travel and am willing to go anywhere. If you are interested in a session, please head to my contact page to inquire. Travel fees vary.

I always encourage my clients to embrace whatever the weather ends up being like that day. Some of my favorite sessions have taken place on snowy afternoons or rainy walks. That being said if the weather is too severe and it could potentially damage my gear or if it's unsafe, we can reschedule or postpone without any problem.

All I need is a signed contract and a 50% retainer.
